Dr. Stéphan TOBALEM
Dr Stéphan Tobalem is an ophthalmologist and board-certified specialist in ophthalmic surgery, specialising almost exclusively in oculoplastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery (Swiss FMH and European EBO certification). He is an expert in the beautification, rejuvenation and reconstruction of the eyelids.
He is registered with the Swiss Federal Register of Medical Professions (medreg) under the number GLN 7601003428643, and is authorised to bill insurance companies.
After obtaining his medical degree (2014), he trained in ophthalmology at Geneva University Hospitals and then at the Fondation Ophtalmologique A. de Rothschild in Paris, receiving his Swiss diploma (FMH) and his European certification (EBO) as a specialist in ophthalmology (2020). After two years as head of clinic at Geneva University Hospitals, he obtained his Swiss diploma (FMH) in ophthalmic surgery (2022). Keen to perfect his skills specifically in orbito-palpebral reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery, he completed a two-year fellowship in the prestigious oculoplastics unit at the University of Montreal (Dr Boulos, Dr Codere, Dr Hardy, Dr Kalin, Dr Wong). This gives him the dual qualification of ophthalmic surgeon and plastic and aesthetic eyelid surgeon. On his return to Switzerland (2023), he was appointed head of oculoplastics in the ophthalmology department of Geneva University Hospitals, where he treated both adult and paediatric patients.
In 2024, he set up as an oculoplastics surgeon in private practice at the Clinique Tobalem, and is accredited at the Clinique Générale Beaulieu-Swiss Medical Network, Hirslanden Clinique la Colline & Hirslanden Clinique des Grangettes.
His work is published and cited in leading scientific journals, and he is a regular speaker at national and international conferences.
He is a member of the Fédération des Médecins Helvétiques (FMH), the Association des Médecins du canton de Genève (AMGe), the Société Suisse d'ophtalmologie (SSO) and the Société Française d'ophtalmologie (SFO).
